Ahoy, riders of the storm, we’ve set sail for the new journalism
Note: An excellent evaluation by Brenda Norrell of Censored News on the state of the corporate media and the direction we need to take to get the truth out. We hope we’ve provided coverage in Durban that the corporate driven media doesn’t even see; nor wants to. We still have more commentary and coverage in the weeks to come regarding the awful corporations and their enablers that run the UNFCCC. The photo at bottom is my contribution-Orin Langelle/GJEP

There is a new journalism evolving. The more I read, the more I understand that the old form of news reporting had to die. The aging one catered to corporations, concealed the truth and rallied to send young people to die in the bogus wars of politicians. It tried to play ‘cat and mouse’ by prostituting the truth for dollars. On its death bed, it relied on plagiarism and deceit. It died of moral decay.
Now, this new journalism is in its infancy. It is struggling to survive, wailing to survive, but survive it will. What will be the face of this new journalism? For sure, there will be nothing short of truth that will stand the test of this new journalism. (The hacktivists are making sure of that, and exposing the bowels of e-mails of the deceivers.)
The aging, grey faced journalism, with its yellow skin, has failed us. Its life forces were drained away by corrupt energy companies who targeted the poor and voiceless, foul politicians who used mass media to cheerlead their hype, and military recruiters who saw people of color as fodder for their wars. It will pass away now.
Regardless of age, it is the passion for truth and clarity that drives the riders of this storm, this new journalism. It is an honor to be among those cast out of the old journalism, and forced to search out a new way of truth-telling.
We are on this great journey together, setting sail for a new destination.
