ArborGen Senior Executive Appointed to U.S. DOE and USDA Biomass R&D Advisory Committee

Note: Like Barbara Wells, the CEO of ArborGen–who worked for Monsanto to bring their deadly RoundUp Ready soybeans to Brazil–according to the release below, “Prior to his current role at ArborGen, Nothmann led the Americas product management group for the vegetable business at Monsanto where he spent the last 13 years in various positions of increasing responsibility.”

ArborGen’s got some great jargon:  “purpose grown trees” “technology-enhanced seedlings” “advanced tree genetics” — all so they can, “[improve] the sustainability of working forests while helping to meet the world’s growing need for wood, fiber and energy.”  So, in other words, they plan to sell annually (just in the US) half a billion genetically engineered cold tolerant, explosively flammable, forest invading, wildlife displacing, non-native, water-hogging, drought-worsening eucalyptus tree clones, not to make boat loads of money, but because they have only goodness in their hearts.

I’m sure that’s why they started out at Monsanto–their big, altruistic hearts.

And now they’re at the Department of Energy.  I guess they want the inside track to make sure they get their GE trees commercialized.  Salazar and Chu strike again.  What will President Obummer’s people do next…
