Note: GJEP co-Founders Anne Petermann and Orin Langelle helped organize 5 days of militant protest at the National Governors’ Association convention in Burlington, VT in August 1995 to stop then-Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge from signing the death warrant for former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal. There also were numerous protests in various US cities that erupted and Mumia was not executed. Now the death sentence of Abu-Jamal has been commuted due to the injustice surrounding his initial trial.
